auto add to an existing archive? Tue Oct 02, 2007 12:28 am • by donebylee
I am new to Hazel and have set-up a rule to copy email from my saved email folder in Mail to a back-up folder. I have created an archive file with all the copied emails zipped up in it.

Can I get Hazel to do this for me? In other words, after copying a file from Mail, can Hazel add that file to an existing archive, not into it's own archive.

Thanks for all help.

P.S. Bought the program through MUPromo and am very happy with it. Great work.

Hi,

Sorry about the late response.

There is no way to do this except via a script. A shell script would be the most natural way for a task like this but you could probably do it in AppleScript as well.

Thank you for your reply.

I have given up on creating the "master" archive and have instead just used the standard Hazel archive rule, which zips each file individually.

It will work for now.

Thanks again.
