JPG file - How to tell where it came from? Tue Oct 16, 2012 5:53 pm • by iSilentP
I use Dropbox to send images I capture on my iPhone as well on my Droid phone. On Dropbox, these files are sent to the same folder (Camera Uploads). I am trying to be able to differentiate between which phone (iPhone or Droid) the JPG files originated ans based on which phone created the file, do something different with it, by creating two Hazel rules (one for each). I can't seem to find an easy way to do that. Anyone has encountered this? Any help would be appreciated.

The iPhone JPG properties are here:

The Droid JPG properties are here:

Thanks,

Tony

As you can see, one of the attributes that differ is the device make (device model works as well).
Just go in hazel, create a new rule and instead of choosing for any of the predefined conditions in the list, just click on "other" at the bottom.

There, you can do a search and find attributes like Device Make(Apple VS Motorola), Device Model (iPhone 4S VS DROID RAZR), or Focal length(4.28 VS 4.6) (which is the length of your lens), that differ from your iphone and your motorola.

You can use one of them, or all to match specifically to the device you want.

In the future, post your questions in the support forum though :)
This forum is to exchange rule ideas, and not really for asking questions.
Good Luck !

Thank you, SO much! That certainly did the trick. I did not think to look at the 'Other' option at the bottom of the list. Hazel is so powerful, I knew there must have been a way to do that. Thanks again for opening my eyes. I am newbie here and I will make sure to post any future entries in the proper forum.
