Detect Overwritten, Updated Files? Sun Sep 23, 2012 8:56 am • by trekker5200
I'm new to Hazel and this is a newbie question, I'm sure, but I can't find an answer on my own and I'm hoping someone can suggest a solution.

I have a folder that I synchronize with with an FTP server. The folder contains a set of files that are updated on the FTP server 3-5 times a day. I use an FTP app (Yummy FTP) that checks the remote site and updates the files on my Mac if the modify date on the files on the server is more recent than what's on my Mac. Key point: the file names never change. When remote files are newer, YummyFTP downloads and overwrites those files on my server. Synchronization with the FTP server occurs at 5 scheduled times each day.

I was hoping I could use Hazel to watch that directory and create something of an audit trail of three specific files: Every time these files are updated on my Mac, Hazel would make a copy of each file and move the copy to an archive folder, renaming it with the current date and time appended to the file name.

What's stumping me is finding a set of file attributes that will trigger the action multiple times each day.

Can someone help?

Thanks!

Try "date modified is after date last matched".
