Hazel "Add Comment" Error on macOS Sonoma – Anyone Encounter

Hi everyone,

I just upgraded to macOS Sonoma (14.x) and reinstalled Hazel along with the old rules that I had been using successfully before on Monterey. However, when I use the "Add Comment" action in a simple rule (e.g., adding a comment to a PDF file in the Downloads folder), Hazel fails and throws an error like this:
Code: Select all
Received error set comment for path /Users/Username/Downloads/Test/Example.pdf: Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-1743 "(null)" UserInfo={ErrorNumber=-1743}

Hazel then seems to get into a loop, constantly retrying that rule and not continuing with the rest of the steps.

I tried:

Create a completely new rule with only 1 action:n Add Comment.

Test the rule on another folder.

Check the access rights in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.

Restart the computer

None of which helped.

Has anyone encountered a similar error?
Is this a compatibility issue with the new macOS version, or is it a system permission issue?

Thanks a lot if you can share more experiences or solutions!

Launch System Settings and go to "Privacy & Security"->"Automation". Check any Hazel processes there and make sure any apps listed underneath them are checked/enabled.
