Sync local folder with USB-stick Tue Jul 31, 2012 5:23 pm • by rickrick
Hello,

I have two folders named "School". One on my USB-stick, the other local on my Mac.
I made a rule for both folders to sync with the other. But it doesn't sync when I delete a file. How should I set up that if I delete a file in one of both folder, it automatically will be deleted in the other?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

I'm guessing you are just syncing files inside the folder, not the folder itself. Note that when a file is deleted, there is no file for a rule to match. You need to have a rule match the folder containing the file which was deleted and sync that folder. In short, have Hazel monitor one folder above and have the rule match the folder you want to sync.

Thanks, that worked. Is two-way sync also possible? I was trying to compare "Date Last Modified", but that isn't possible, is it?

You can use date modified but I wouldn't suggest a two way sync with Hazel. It's better to use a specialized and interactive tool for that so you can deal with conflicts.
