Create a new folder and then move files to it

Hi Hazel team,

1. I use a Digital Audio Workstation called Cubase. Cubase creates a whole bunch of backup files (very helpfully) but they're awfully messy when you're going into Finder to find your most recent version. File extension is .bak

2. I'd like to put all .bak files into a folder called 'backups' (this folder needs to be created by Hazel). I've created a rule that will only move backup older than 'today' so it doesn't break anything.

I am very used to sorting into folders by date, but I'm drawing a blank on how to get Hazel to create a folder and then move files to it (that isn't called 2024). At the moment they're getting moved into a folder called 'Backups 2024'

This is probably a really basic thing, and I promise I've read all the manuals and had a good forum/web search. Thanks in advance for any help

Mike

Are you using the Sort into subfolders action? That should do what you want. If it's not working as expected, please post what you have so far and what you expect it to do exactly (be very detailed/specific).

I figured it out, so I'll just leave this here for fellow newbies. I didn't realise you could just enter a folder name in the 'with pattern' field of the 'sort into subfolder' action. It was staring me in the face, but I missed it. Thanks anyway!
