hazel remaing

I scan a document and have Acrobat do OCR and I save it in Action folder.
Then I have told Hazel to watch that folder and whatever comes to rename and move.
I told Hazel to rename Year-Month date and rename based on Spotlight comment.
I write one word Spotlight comment in Default folder X

Hazel uses old file names to add to my comment. So new names keep on getting longer and longer.
How can I set Hazel so it just names it based on single word Spotlight comment

I think the problem is that the newly named file still matches the rule so it gets renamed again and again. You need to add something to make sure renamed files no longer match the rule. You can either color the file and add a condition to filter those files out. Or you can do a pattern match to filter out the renamed files.

Sorry to be a little dense

Your rule is matching some files and then renaming them, then matching those renamed files again. You need to add an extra condition to that rule so it doesn't match the renamed files.

With the first solution, add a condition like "color label is not green" and then add an action "set color label to green". That way, when the rule is done the file is now green and the condition will no longer match it.

The other solution depends on how you are renaming it. Add a condition like "name does not match..." with a pattern that matches the output of the rename action in the same rule. Again, after the file is renamed, the condition will cause it not to match after that.

Both these solutions had hiccup

Your last screenshots show that you're trying to match the NAME of the file. Change that to "Spotlight Comments" and then select "Match":

The problem is not in the first half, Hazel 'does find' the file, the problem is in the second half of the script. Once Hazel identifies the file we are telling it to rename with date and Spotlight comment but Hazel is pulling old comments and adding it to rename.
May be the issue is in Spotlight and that seems to be remembering old comments and appending it.

In fact I did a little test and found that problem is not Hazel but Default Folder X
I added Spotlight comment 'Master' to one file while saving. Then asked Hazel to rename it based on that comment

So Hazel is doing what it is supposed to but DFX is remembering old comments although I have not checked remember this button
