File is matched, but not moved Tue Apr 23, 2024 4:09 am • by Dingens
Hey
I love Hazel and it helps a lot. Now, I have run into a problem:
I have a folder with two rules:
First rule:

Second rule:

As you can see, there are files in the folder that match the second rule:

Unfortunately, the files are not moved.
The logs are saying:
Code: Select all
2024-04-23 09:55:04.993 hazelworker[65662] [File Event] File copied: 2024_04_23_Ferguson.pdf copied from folder /Users/rolf/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox/AA bodhran-info/Inbox Einnahmen to folder /Users/rolf/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox/Apps/BuchhaltungsButler/bodhran-info/Ausgangsrechnungen.

Should Hazel not move the file, since it matches the second rule?
Thanks for your help!

The file matches the first rule. By default, a file can only match one rule. If you want it to match additional rules, use the "Continue" action.

hey
Thanks for that.
I tried this in the first rule and it kept copying and printing, so I figured this was wrong.
What I am trying to achieve here is:
First, once the file arrives in the monitored folder, it should be printed and then copied to another folder. After five minutes, it should be moved to a second folder. The five minutes break seems necessary, since I tried to put all this in one rule, the file was moved before it was printed, so it wasn't printed. I am up for any ideas.
Maybe copy to both destinations, then print, then delete? How would I do that?
Thanks
Rolf

You can add a date condition to the first rule as well so that it won't match after five minutes.

hey
Thanks for getting back to me. I have emptied the folder and added the continue rule again and now it looks like it is working.

In case it stays like that, it's perfect.
If I run into trouble, what would the first rule look like?
Thanks

You would do the inverse of the other rule. Like "Date added is in the last 5 minutes".
