Backup a folder Sat Jul 01, 2023 3:59 am • by andy4222
Hi Hazel team and community,

Seems like when I need to backup a folder (A) based on changes in it's subfolders/files, I need to monitor the parent of A rather than A itself. Why is that?

Like in this case, I had to monitor the parent of "backups" and set condition based on folder name "backups". Can't I just monitor "backups" directly and copy/archive the whole folder? When I do that, it just copies specifies files/folders changed in "backups" rather than the entire folder

It depends on what you want. If you don't care about reflecting deletions in the backups folder, then what you are doing is fine though a bit wasteful. Instead of copying the whole folder every time, it would be better to go into subfolders and copy the individual files.

If you need to reflect deletions, then consult the manual on syncing folders.
