Rename issue - Is this a bug?

My new rule is looking for files where kind is Movie. It then renames with pattern 'name extension'. For name I've selected Replace Text in the name bubble, and I want to replace all periods with a space. So "My.File.mp4" becomes "My File.mp4".

I can set name to Title Case, UPPERCASE, lowercase, etc, and that DOES work. But the text substitution doesn't. I've tried other substitutions (= for G, z for f, etc).

Am I missing something?

btw - I assume the period in the file extension isn't considered part of the 'name', but that doesn't seem to be an issue at the moment.

This is a known bug that will be fixed in the next patch. If it's urgent, I suggest you email support and I can send you a link to a test build with the fix.

And yes, the period is not part of the extension or the name. It is in the "full name" though.

Nope. I went and broke it in the last release. My bad.

If you change your mind, let me know. Otherwise, I should be able to have the patch out next week, barring some new issue popping up.

I also started having problems with replace in renaming actions, and thought I was going mad. Also, seems to be problems with Hazel taking quite a while to run on some matches.

Well, a fix for the text replacement. I don't know anything about your issue with Hazel taking a while to run. You'll need to send me the logs and rules for that. If you do it quickly and it's something I can identify and fix quickly, there's a chance it can make the patch. Email me if you can.

Since this has to do with the background processing, the Hazel logs. Go to the "Info" section and click on "View Log".

Also, in the "Info" section, click on "Contact Support" and attach the files in the resulting Mail window.
