Based on certain criteria, I would like to be able to trash the item. I see that I can move the item to the trash. And then using Hazel preferences can empty the trash at certain times. Is this the best way to simply delete that item?

Or, is there a way to just delete the item itself without moving it to the trash? I do not see this in the list of choices.

Hazel will not directly delete items like that. The trash is an important safety net and is there for a reason. I'd suggest not bypassing it.
