Caught exception errors

I've only just installed Hazel and set up a half dozen rules. Out of curiosity, I went to view the log this morning, I see a bunch of these:

2022-06-21 20:37:27.713 86Z3GCJ4MF.com.noodlesoft.HazelHelper[53417] Caught exception trying to run worker for folder Downloads: must provide a launch path

2022-06-21 20:37:29.566 86Z3GCJ4MF.com.noodlesoft.HazelHelper[53417] Caught exception trying to run worker for folder Trash: must provide a launch path

What's happening? I thought it might be that Hazel needs full disk access; I granted that, and relaunched Hazel, now the log shows things like this for all the folders I'm watching:

2022-06-22 09:27:44.316 86Z3GCJ4MF.com.noodlesoft.HazelHelper[63609] Worker process for folder /Users/kirk/Downloads did not check in.

I looked in the menu bar, and there are two Hazel icons. In Activity Monitor, it shows that Hazel Helper is running twice. I tried to force quit all the Hazel processes, and was unable to do that; one HazelHelper and one hazelnotifyd won't quit. However, I'm not seeing errors in the log any more.

How could Hazel have launched two instances like that?

Launch System Preferences. Do you see Hazel there? If so, right-click on it and select the option to remove it. After that, I suggest a reboot.

Where in System Preferences?

As a pane among the other ones. Older versions of Hazel were a preference pane.

Oh, I see. No, I only started using Hazel this week, so I don't have that.

Can you reboot and see if you still have two instances of HazelHelper running?

Just one after a reboot.

Keep an eye on it and let me know if you ever see two again.
