sometimes it works, sometimes not

Hello,

at this point already thank you for helping me.

I use Hazel for many years now. In the last few months Hazel has problems with pdfs. I didn't change the rules or s.th. else.
Sometimes Hazel recognizes the rules, sometimes not. Most problems occur with the content of PDFs. Hazel doesn't recognize the content. Rule example "Contents contain xxx": In Preview it shows "Rule does not match". If I click on the red cross, it shows me "xxx" in the content but Hazel can't recognize it.
I tried without success:
- I exported my rules, deleted the folder and imported everything.
- I renewed the rule

Maybe you know a solution.
Best regards,
Cal

If using "Contents contain", note that it uses Spotlight. You can try diagnosing Spotlight on your machine. Alternatively, you can use "Contents contain match", which does a direct scan of the file bypassing Spotlight. Note that it is more resource-intensive though.

Hello Mr. Noodle,
thank you very much for your help. The interesting thing: when I open the downloaded PDF, Hazel runs immediately. If I just download the PDF, nothing happens.
Best regards,
Calvin

Was the file OCRed via Fujitsu Scansnap software, by chance?

I don't know. These are different sources. For example, I downloaded the PDF from my bank account

What browser/program are you using to download them?

And you find the same behavior for both? Are you downloading to the Downloads folder? Is Spotlight enabled for that folder?
