Cannot remove Hazel from Dock

I'm experiencing a fairly new bug on Monterey where Hazel is constantly open in the dock. Quitting the app doesn't remove it, it's just constantly open. I force quit Hazel and reopened the app, but it instantly opens in the Dock and also and remains persistent, and is impossible to close.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks.

Are you running 5.1? If so, try updating to 5.1.1. Note that the in-app updater may be broken in which case I suggest downloading and installing the update manually.

Great, thanks a lot. The updater was broken as you mentioned. Updating to 5.1.1 fixed it.

Is Hazel running? Can you provide a video of this?

Yes Hazel is running. A video of what exactly?

You can remove apps from the Dock when they are running.

I know but when I drag Hazel away from the dock, it shows the "remove" but when I release, it bounces back. When I right-click Hazel, it doesn't give me the option to "remove from dock" but only offer "keep in dock".

If Hazel is running, you cannot remove it. That is true for any running app. If it says "Keep in Dock", that means it's not actually permanently in the Dock and will disappear when you quit Hazel.
