hazel handling file in process rule handling Wed Jun 23, 2021 11:41 am • by united
Hi,

How can you capture in process file attributes?

Info:
- I have a process that is exporting a file.
- this is indicated by the finder progress circle
- I would like to wait until the progress is completed before I run the rule
-- I can see the progress circle in the finder UI

Issue:
- there is no attribute that I can see (date modified) that changes until the export is completed. The date modified attribute is changed only once the process is completed. So If start a process at 8:00 am and the process continues until 8:10 am there is no attribute indicator that the file is in process except for the UI circular UI indicator.
Image
- the export process is varying can be 1 min, 10min, 45minutes or more

Question:
- Is there a rule that I can create that allows to wait until the export process is completed then the rule is processed?

You can try using something like "Date modified is not in the last X minutes" to delay a match. You will have to experiment with what a suitable time would be in this case.

Just to close out the issue. It was a macOS corruption issue. I had to reinstall the macOS to return the default functionality.
