Hi all. New user here. Can I use Hazel to remove duplicate files as they are created based on actual file content, not name?

Thank you

Hazel has limited duplicate handling functionality. Basically, it looks for similarly named files in the same folder. Think of is as a way to handle files that are saved or downloaded more than once accidentally.

Hello, I am new to Hazel, have gone through David Spark's Field Guide, this forum and the manual. I am trying to remove duplicate files from a number of major folders (dropbox, downloads). I can't find the procedure, or rules/conditions to do this. I apologize if I have overlooked something obvious. But can someone tell me the simplest way to search for duplicates and move? I realize that there is no "search for duplicates" syntax per se, but how would one find and move files with identical names, for example? thanks.

Check the folder options. There are checkboxes there to do the limited duplicate removal that Hazel has built in.
