Also, further to the Hazel5 install: I want to migrate the rules from V4 to V5. I have

  • an MacBook with V4 and the old rules
  • an iMac only with V5 and the demo rules
What's the best way to get on both computers V5 running with the old V4 rules ?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Leo

Hazel 5 should read in your rules and settings, converting as necessary. It's always a good idea to keep backups but for the most part, you do not need to do anything special.

Thanks. And what's the best way to get the same rules on both computers? (All rule paths should be $HOME relative the same.)

Try rule syncing. Check the manual for more details and make sure you don't confuse it with the chapter on folder syncing.

Rule syncing for a folder works seamlessly. Two questions about it:

1. If I want to sync the rules to multiple folders and if I want to sync the folders (i.e. their HOME-relative paths) themselfs, is this possible?
2. Can I sync which rules I have ticked as active?

Thanks!

Any paths referenced by the rules are synced. If they are relative to home, then they should work relative to the home folder on each machine. All rules, active or inactive are synced. The active state of each rule, though, is local to each monitored folder.
