Version 5, prefpane issue

I can't get back in to the pref pane in System Preferences. I am in a loop of attempting to add my 5.0 licence, every launch I have to re add it. I keep trying to remove the old Hazel but I get this error: “Hazel.prefPane” couldn’t be moved to the bin because you don’t have permission to access it.

I can't get rid of version 4, and can't use version 5.0 because of a clash with the licences. How can I get 4.5 off my machine if I can't get into the prefPane?

I had my rules backed up, I wish I had deleted the old Hazel before installing. I thought it would be easier than this.

Having now deleted the licences I can get in, but when trying to uninstall the prefpane I get:
Uninstall Failed
Please check the logs via Console.app for more information.

So going in circles trying to just get 5.0 working. Oh and while I don't mind, I realised I overpaid too: I should have upgraded for $20 instead as I was a previous owner instead of paying $42.

Eh, I can live with the extra cost, happy to be helping out MrNoodle ;-)

How are you uninstalling? If you are clicking the Uninstall button in Hazel, DO NOT DO THAT. That will nuke all your rules and settings (as warned in the alert that pops up).

Instead, launch System Preferences, right-click on the Hazel icon, and select the option to remove it. Reboot after that.

I actually can't get the pref pane to open or remove. When I right click to remove it from Sys Prefs says:

“Hazel.prefPane” couldn’t be moved to the bin because you don’t have permission to access it.

To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info.

Where would I find it in the finder to do that? Searching on Hazel.prefPane shows no file on my system?

Is your account an admin account? If not, then you'll need to have whoever has admin privileges to remove it.

Yep, I am the admin. I am also logged in as this admin account - this is the only account on this mac. So I have the privs...

This is the message that pops up when right clicking, but where do I find this "file"?

"To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info"

.

It should either be in /Library/PreferencePanes (at the top level of your drive) or Library/PreferencesPanes (under your home folder). If you find it there, just throw it away and reboot. No need to go through SysPrefs in that case.
