I have the renaming rule setup to 2020-10-26 company name #invoice number - invoice amount.pdf

Date, company name, invoice number all work fine. However, invoice amount "Total $40" rewrites to "? $40". Even if I don't replace the total with a blank space its "Total? $40". I've tried replacing the Total? with a blank, that doesn't work either.

I've searched around and only found a rule to replace special characters in file names.

But I prefer to not have the ? inserted when renaming in the first place.

Where are these values coming from? Are you doing a contents match?

Yes, I'm using content match and using the token to write the file names.

I'm guessing there's some sort of invisible character in the text. If you open the file and copy the text in question and then paste it into TextEdit, do you see the ? there?
