How to sucessively rename by creation date? Sun May 17, 2020 3:04 pm • by gahariet
Hi,

I have set up Hazel rules like this:

1. New photos in my download folder are moves to the ALBUM folder
2. Once in ALBUM, another rule renames them with format <creation.date><extension> and sorts into subfolder with patterns <creation.date>.

This means I have my photos organized by <creation.date> folder.

The problem is that the photos are renames as they are included in the download folder. So smaller fotos are processed first. This means that the counter <name1> <name2> etc., does not follow the creation time, so when I view the photos I may start by the last taken photo. Is there a way to fix this? The only thing I can think of is that the rule is only run at 00:00 every night, so all the photos are downloaded and maybe the counter would follow the creation date. Is there a way to schedule the hazel rules?

Thanks.

You can use the "Current time" attribute to have a rule match at certain times.
