I installed 4.4.4 built 1576 yesterday and today I am getting an error:

it is a rule that moves files from a subfolder to its parent; checking first if the file has nocolor purple tag and then gives it a purple tag too after moving. It has always worked, until today.....

Any thoughts?

That indicates that there is no Spotlight metadata for the file. I would look into your Spotlight index. Make sure the folders do not fall under Spotlight's privacy settings and, if you have updated your OS lately, make sure it is finished rebuilding the Spotlight index.

I'm getting lots of these after upgrading to 4.4.4 also.
Spotlight is not indexing and there are no folders inside the privacy tab.

Can you try rebuilding your Spotlight index?

Thanks for the reply. After posting this, I found another reply by you about that privacy.
Indeed I had my external drive (for which this rule was referring too) blocked from indexing. However, it has been blocked for many months, so perhaps 4.4.3 and earlier still allowed it while in privacy (or it used an old index....), I don't know.
Anyway, after removing the drive from the privacy settings in Spotlight, it works.
