A rule that's been in place for months (years?) stopped working recently.

Even triggering it manually results in no files moving. It last worked some time yesterday.

The Rule I'm trying to force is the "TV Shows" Rule. The Log shows "Processing folder TV Shows", but nothing's moving out of the directory.

Based on timestamps, it looks to have stopped working sometime around 9pm last night.

What should I try to get it working again? I'll start with a reboot.

A reboot didn't work.

It looks like all of my Rules aren't working, for some reason.

It looks at both subdirectories in the Movies folder, but doesn't move anything anywhere. No errors that I can see anywhere.

These Rules all worked for a long time and I didn't change anything between their last successful run and breaking and to my knowledge there weren't any MacOS updates overnight.

And just like that, it seems to have fixed itself, somehow.

I manually forced each of the two Rules I'm looking at to run and they worked.

Maybe the reboot did fix it. :shrug:

It seems to be partially happening now, which is even weirder.

A bunch of video files moved overnight from my TV Shows folder, but the associated Artwork did not move.

If I force run the Rule right now, the artwork does not move, but it meets all of my rule criteria.

What's odd -- all of a sudden -- is that Hazel thinks a .jpg is not "Kind is Image". This has worked forever, but suddenly when I Preview the Rule, I'm told there's not a match for that portion of the Rule.

It's just: "Kind is Image", and the folder only houses 3 .jpgs right now. Last I checked, a .jpg is an image, no?

The log shows nothing super helpful. So I don't really know where to look. Should I delete the Rules and try recreating them?

I changed my Rule to "Extension is jpg" and Hazel is still saying there isn't a match.

Why can Hazel all of a sudden no longer get the metadata from these images? They've been generated by Filebot the same way for a long time now and Hazel never had a problem with them before.

I rebooted and 2 of the 3 directories had their images moved.

I force ran the Rule and 1 directory moved. Then I did it again and a different one moved.

The last directory still tells me the .jpg isn't an Image, though. So I'm stuck and will stop posting until someone can offer some help.

In the preview, click on the red x to see what it thinks the extension is. Note that all the problems you are seeing are related to Spotlight. I would start looking into fixing things on that end.

If I click on the red X, it says "Kind|Folder", which is wrong. And yet, my Rule just ran fine on a TV show I just downloaded.

I haven't changed anything with Spotlight recently. Can you point me to a doc telling me what could be the problem with Hazel and Spotlight, so I can try troubleshooting it further?

Search around on how to rebuild your Spotlight index. There are several methods so try the one you are most comfortable with.

Everything's been swimming along since I last posted, without any changes on my end.

So I think whatever was being problematic fixed itself.

For now, I'll just assume the flakiness is over. If it resurfaces, I'll rebuild my Spotlight index (which I'm already familiar with from other apps I use).
