Controlling size of log file Fri Sep 20, 2019 6:00 am • by Dave61
Recently Hazel has been getting very slow. Looking for clues I tried to open the log file … which took ages. I tracked it down (/library/logs/hazel/hazel.log if anyone else is curious) and found it was 2.3 GB in size.

Is there a way within Hazel, apart from writing a rule, to control this?

If I use a rule to trash the file while Hazel is running (which it would have to be) will it cause a problem?

Is there another way, short of manually navigating to the file, to do this?

Do you have debug logging turned on? Check out this guide: https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/hazel-debug-mode/

Debug mode does generate a ton of logs so turning it off when you are not diagnosing something is a good idea.

Otherwise, you should look at the logs. Many times there's an error constantly happening and you'll need to address it.
