Match all tags Thu Jul 11, 2019 3:52 pm • by stsch83
Hi,

sorry for my english, i'm from germany.

If i can my papers, i tag them with specific tag. In hazel i want to match these tags (all of the file) and put them to the name of the file. But i can not match all the tags. I only can match the first tag of the file. Is there a solution to match all the tags of the file.

BR,
Stefan

You shouldn't need to match the tags. In the Rename action, use the Tags attribute which should dump them all into the name. Note that you won't be able to control the ordering of the tags.

I guess I'm unclear on what you are trying to do then. Can you provide a concrete example?

Hi,

i have a pdf file "myfile.pdf", witch has same tags (mac) like "my_name" and "invoice" or "insurance".
Now i want to match all these tags and rename the "myfile.pdf" for example to "myfile (my_name invoice).pdf".

So i want to match all tags and put them in the name of the file.

I hope it clear what i to do.

BR,
Stefan

How do you need to match them? If you are just using, say, the first tag and second tag, regardless of what they are, then you can just use the tags attribute twice in the Rename action, specifying using the 1st, then 2nd item.

In the Rename action, drag in "Other" and selected "Tags" in the list. Next, click on the "Tags" token to open the menu. There are built-in options to select the first or last item. You can also use "Select list item" to select other items in the list (like 2nd).

I don't know what it would be in German but try doing "Other" in the condition popup and see if tags show up there. Then preview the rule and see what the value for tags is.

when i use the rule:
tag -> contain match -> anythink i can see all the tags from the file when i click on the green check button after preview. But these words will not be shown in the option "schlagwörter" or "schlageworte" in others.

I use the german OsX and it works perfectly well.
For what you try to accomplish you don't need contain match. Just enter something that triggers the file you want to rename.
Under the rename panel, "other", "Schlagworte" is the right one. If you don't change anything, it takes all tags.

if you want specific ones, you can define which ones here:
