Downloads folder Thu Apr 25, 2019 11:53 am • by Chris Bernard
MacOS 10.14.4

Strange.
I have an issue with a rule concerning my Downloads folder.
An extension condition is specified. The treatment (moving the file) is not performed.
The file is well found when I check the preview, but not moved.
I checked this rule with another folder. Everything worked fine.
I repaired the permissions. No improvement.

Has anybody seen that before ?
Thx to help.

Can you go through the troubleshooting guide here? https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/hazel-tro ... ing-guide/

Report back with the results of that.

Got it ! :D

My situation: 2 Downloads folder rules.
Rule 1- Add a color label to today downloaded items
Rule 2- Move files with a special extension, from Downloads folder to another folder.

Before:
1st rule was performed
2nd rule: no action, no file matched, no log

Now:
I have inverted the order of those 2 rules. Second rule becoming the first one.
Bingo !

These 2 rules used to work nicely with the previous order, without issue before.
Amazing.

An explanation ?

Thx for helping efficiently as always.
Best.

Can't say how it worked before. You'd have to provide the troubleshooting diagnostics when it was in that state.

You do understand that a file can only match one rule at a time? If your intent is for it to be able to match both rules, you need to use the "Continue" action.

News:
Both rules are now working nicely. I have done nothing (!?).
A miracle ? :P

Still hoping to know where to look for the useful continue action feature. No emergency of course.
Thanks in advance.

Check the manual as it should be explained there.
