Rules are not executed on directory

Hi,

i watch a directory in hazel that has a single rule. The directory is on an external usb drive.
I add a file and the hazel rule should process it as the rule's condition is "Contents contain youtube". Sometimes nothing happens for a full day. When i execute "Run rules now", it sometimes procceses the files, which makes no sense to me.

Does this mean hazel didn't detect the change as it seems to be aware of the files being there when i manually execute it?
How can i fix this? it seems ridiculous that i have to basically sweep up after/before hazel does something, makes the automation kinda less automated.

Best to go through the steps during a period when the file is there but hasn't run yet.

preview says it doesn't match but i don't know why. the only thing in the file is a link to youtube hence it should match "contains youtube".

What kind of file is it? Also, click on the red x in the preview to see what contents Hazel can see.

Does it actually have a .txt extension? And what does the preview show as the contents?

yes, it has ".txt" as an ending, example: "3298sdljqoixpfdj913294.txt"

it shows empty (i.e. nothing) as contents, why would that be?

What is the "Kind" of that file in Finder?

Can you email an example file to support?

I tried to "Contact support" but it opens Mail.app which isnt' setup instead of spark. Can't see the email addy. Mind sharing it?

I'm able to see the contents in Hazel fine here. Try the rule status (the "eye" button). Click on the file and then click the "i" button. Send over a dump of the file attributes shown there.

That doesn't list me anything. Clicking on the eye button gives me the view shown in the screenshot

That doesn't seem to be the correct view. The one I'm talking about shows all the attributes for the file.

@Mr_Noodle: i think it is the correct view? it just doesn't list any files because it doesn't pick them up?
