Creating an Import file Mon Jan 14, 2019 1:09 am • by ahr1374
Hello,

I am new to Hazel 4. I have about 1000 folders all listed by names and I would like to create an import file with which I can create rules to move any file that contains a specific name into its respective folder.

For example, I have folders titled:

John Joe
Apple Seed
Andy Gower

I have another location where files contain the above names. I want to create an import file to create rules that if a name contains 'John Joe' it should be transferred to the 'John Joe' folder.

At the moment I have to create rules manually for each name and folder and doing it for a 1000 named folders will take me forever.

Is it possible to create an import file to process my list of 1000 folders?

I have tried opening the hazelrules file using text editor but I cannot really read the file to make changes.

Thank you for your help in advance

Can you send me examples of the filenames? If there is some sort of pattern as to where the folder name appears there, you can probably replace all those rules with single one.
