Rename bulk files to original filename. Sun Jan 06, 2019 5:59 am • by Greenow987
Hi,

I renamed over 25,000 photos to the format YYYY-MM-DD-HH-MM-SS without thinking of the consequence on Lightroom. I've now got Lightroom saying I have over 25,000 missing photos. Due to Lightroom working on filename and not metadata my only way of relinking the files is to manually go through each photo and relink them one by one with the renamed file.

I've been reading online about exiftool and the ability to use that to get the original filename.

How can I implement this with Hazel to rename all my files in a folder structure to their original filename?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

If you have backups, restoring those might be the best way. Otherwise, search the forums for "exiftool", which is what some people use to extract EXIF data not normally provided by Spotlight.
