Proper use of "Duration" attribute? Thu May 12, 2011 4:02 pm • by scotty2shots
Hey everyone - I'd like to have Hazel sort TV shows and Movies based on Duration - anything under an hour is a tv show.

But I can't figure out how to properly input text in the field after setting "Duration" "is less than". Hazel doesn't seem to accept anything with a colon, and all durations are listed in the Apple 'get info' pane formatted 21:22 and similarly.

Just inputting number of minutes doesn't seem to work, as I set up a rule to move "is less than" "90" and Hazel wasn't moving a 21-minute video file.

Thanks guys.

Duration is listed as in seconds so you need to specify it as such. Keep in mind that these are Spotlight attributes. Hazel doesn't know anything about it beyond that it is a number so it can't know that it's a time duration over, say, a count of items.

Fantastic. Using Duration is less than 5400 works perfectly... leaves Boogie Nights alone and moves Bob's Burgers right along. Totally missed Duration as being in seconds.

Thanks a ton!
