I need an Applescript/embedded script to convert an Excel file from XLS to XLSX when saved in a folder which is monitored by Hazel. The database that creates this file can only export to XLS.

I think this issue isn't necessarily Hazel-specific. You may want to check out some more general AppleScript sites/forums for more help on this type of issue.

It's not just changing the extension of the file. You have to convert it.

I have nothing to do with this product nor the company, but I use this add-on. it will carry out what you need.
