I have emailed author about this, and was hoping it might be issue with Mojave beta but still persists on final. Its quite annoying as this is the only reason I bought Hazel really, want to do selective backup of folders I select.

Will share current script, I have tried many variations over the months:

Will keep on looping that. The sync works, but as the rule is never matched correctly, any files that change are immediately synched, instead of only doing so if changed in last 10 minutes. This results in continual activity.

Also tried setting entire directory to 777, using copy instead of sync (which fails completely at the moment) and tried changing order of rules as well.

Try turning on debug mode as described here: https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/hazel-debug-mode/

That will log the output from the sync. I suspect, though, that it's unable to sync some metadata so it is considered a failure.

There seem to be lines previous to this excerpt which show what failed to sync over. Those would explain why the sync is failing.

Check the errors like this: rsync:

opendir "/Users/example/Library/Application Support/CallHistoryDB" failed: Operation not permitted (1)

There are some folders which Hazel cannot access thus the sync fails.
