Images are recognised as kind=document Wed Oct 17, 2018 8:25 am • by dozed
Hi,

I have a rule which will automatically delete images from my desktop if their creation-date is not in the last 10 minutes and their kind is "Image". Here is a screenshot of the rule:

However, hazel recognizes my screenshots (.png) as kind=Document, which can be seen here:

This happens since last 2 versions, I think - before everything worked fine.

Is this bug already known?

Thanks

It seems to be an issue with Spotlight. If you are comfortable with the commandline, try running 'mdls' on the file. If it's showing the Kind as Document there, then that points to Spotlight miscategorizing the file.

Thanks for the reply. Yes you are right, it does.

Anything I can do? Probably force re-index?

Edit:
Well, for now I will just change the rule to use extension instead of file kind.

Thanks however

You can try re-building the index. Search around as there are different methods. Choose the one you are most comfortable with.
