Is there still no fix to this? I have done all I can to spotlight so it must be a Hazel issue.

Hazel can't access it if Spotlight doesn't provide it. If you don't see year in Finder, then the issue is outside of Hazel. You need to get your system to recognize that year, if it is indeed in the file.

Hello mate. I was the one who sent you the tweet regarding this issue. So I have now filially found an MP3 tagger that Hazel can get the 'year recorded' tag from (Music Brainz if you were wondering).

So I have finally got Hazel to run the rule on my mac HDD but I wanted the rule to move the song to my thunderbolt HDD and then file it in the right folder. However the files moves and then rule moves it to a blank folder. Im guessing that Hazel moves it too quick to the external HDD for spotlight to index it and read the tags to be able to run the rule properly.

Do you think this could be the case and if so what can I do about it?

You can try adding a delay to see if that fixes it. You can use "Run shellscript" with the following script:

sleep 3

That will pause for 3 seconds. You can adjust as needed. See if that helps.

So can I just double check. This is the first rule I have on my external HDD and the one that is causing the issues.

Can't see the rest of the actions in there. You want to make sure it's between the move to the other drive and the sort into subfolder. If you have this split up where you have the folder on the other drive added to Hazel and it does the sort in a separate step, there should be a natural delay already in place though. If you turn off that rule, you might want to see how long it takes until Spotlight indexes it. If it's more than a couple seconds, I'd also look into why Spotlight is so slow on that drive.
