How to get Hazel to go into Volumes that mount irregularly?

Hi Paul,

I read the "How to get Hazel into subfolders" post. That works, but how can I get it to work on a volume that I mount?

This is what I want to do:

- Mount a CF card
- Go into subfolder level 2 and copy the images on the card into a folder on a fixed disk.

So far, I've tried this:

Rule #1

If Kind is Volume
Run rules on folder contents

Rule #2

Name is NO NAME
Run rules on folder contents

Rule #3

Subfolder depth is 2
Kind is Image
Copy to "folder on fixed disk"

If I understand the log correctly, Hazel stops at rule #1, declaring it succeeded, and then stops. I think that's because I let rules run on folder contents, but it should read "on volume contents".

Is that correct? If it is, then how can I make Hazel go to Rule #2 and #3? I have tried changing Rule #1 so it reads Kind is Folder, but then Hazel will assume all folders are good, and starts copying from all mounted folders -- in alphabetical order... If I add Name is NO NAME to Rule #1, as expected Hazel will never delve into the sub-volume folder structure...

I'm not very good at scripting/programming logic, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

"Run rules on folder contents" works on volumes as well as folders. Pause rules for the folder and use the preview function. You can see which folders it will go into by the fact that you can expand the folder and see what's inside. Also, what folder do you have Hazel monitoring?

The Preview says matched rule #1 for my target disk as well as the disk that should offload.

I'm monitoring the /Volumes directory.

I got it! I needed 5 rules, of which 4 were set to delve deeper into the folder structure. Thanks for the help!
