Kind is Image Bug? Mon Jun 17, 2013 8:41 pm • by maxit
I had 10 .jpg files in a folder and Hazel lately stopped processing the jpg files.
Matching is set to Kind is Image. Clicking on the eye does not show the files matching anymore.
I had to change it to Extension is jpg.
then files matched.
why did Kind is Image stop working for jpg files?

hazel 3.0.18
os 10.8.2

What "Kind" does it show if you do "Get Info" on the files in Finder? I'm guessing either Spotlight or your Launch Services database got corrupted somehow.

Mr Noodle,

Kind shows as "JPEG image"
This shows in finder get info and also hazel with the preview and info.

sjk,

never looked at the More info, but my images are from my camera so they do not have a download URL.

i updated to 10.8.4 and still the same issue.
after image capture imports my images and videos into the folder, hazel should process the pictures.
but it does not match the "kind is image". only if I set "extension is jpg" works.

Can you use the commandline? If so, do

mdls <path to file>

where <path to file> is the path to the file. If you don't know how to enter the path, drag the file into the Terminal window and drop it after the mdls command. Post the output of that.

That appears to not be indexed by Spotlight. Check Spotlight's privacy settings. If that checks out, then try using mdutil to make sure indexing is on. After that, you can also try manually import the file by using mdimport.
