Copy folder then import into iTunes Thu Feb 07, 2013 4:51 pm • by ken
I'm trying to make a rule that's not working. I have a bunch of my band's rehearsal recordings in Dropbox, each in a dated folder. Since older ones could be deleted at a given time, I want to copy them into my band's folder in the iTunes Music folder, then import into iTunes. For some reason, with the following set, only one of the folders, which has subfolders itself, will get copied. Thanks for any help on this.

If all are met for any of its sub-files or folders:

Kind is Folder

Copy into folder: band_name
Import into iTunes to playlist Library

What your rule is saying is "If a folder has a folder, copy that folder into band_name and import into iTunes". I'm not sure if that's what you mean. I suggest not using "any of its sub-files". If you could describe in more detail your folder layout and what you are trying to do, I can suggest a better alternative.

Thanks. I tried changing it to "the file or folder being matched" and it worked. There any documentation explaining the difference between "the", "any", "all", and "its enclosing" for the conditional matching?

You can check out an article in the in-app help called "Creating rule conditions" that has blurbs on each of those options.
