subfolders and date matched - bug? Sun Nov 11, 2012 3:33 pm • by ecormany
i've had pretty good luck writing rule sets that traverse subfolders. recently, i've been having some buggy behavior with a rule i use to automatically generate PDF copies of Pages documents. i have a folder set up with a basic "if folder then run rules on contents" rule and this rule:

it generally works as expected. however, sometimes when an unrelated action takes place, a whole mess of files suddenly pass the rule (and the Applescript goes crazy, spitting out PDFs left and right). for example, i created a new subfolder of the folder that this rule is attached to, and files in other subfolders that hadn't been modified in days suddenly passed. to me, that behavior suggests that Hazel "forgot" the Date Last Matched for those files, but i can't figure out why. (as a temporary workaround, i've added a "Date Last Modified is in the last 1 day" sanity check to prevent this happening again.)

i can post logs if you tell me what to look for…i admit i'm not very good at reading the tea leaves in Console.app on my own.

I suggest emailing the logs in to support. Also, I wonder if something is nuking or preventing Hazel from writing to its internal database.
