Rules for Resolution width and height Tue Dec 13, 2011 3:16 am • by melwan
First of all, thanks a lot for this gem.

I'm still testing out Hazel to see how it fits my work flow and so far so good. I have a question though.

I'm trying to differentiate images based on their resolution. I want images to go into separate folders base on resolution.
I created a rule for one resolution set, but Hazel won't move the file.

Here is a screenshot:

I also tried a different rule for iPhone 4 resolution wallpapers and same thing, nothing is moving.

What am I doing wrong?

TY

Thanks for your reply.

For the Preview Mode, none of the supposed-to-be-matching-to-the-rules files are showing up (the list is empty).

For Hazel.log, I tried to execute the rule many times today, but there are no entries in the log that reflect today's date. All the entries are from yesterday and they are for other rules that work fine (not this rule I'm having trouble with).

For seeing what Hazel (and Spotlight) sees, I followed the steps and this is what I got.

It looks like Hazel is not seeing the resolution since the DPI resolution is 0 for both height and width. I tried the terminal command for another file with different resolution and the DPI resolution is the same, 0. Since I'm using "resolution width" and "resolution height" in the rule, it was looking at the DPI which is 0.

Therefore, I switched the rule to "Pixel width" and "Pixel height" instead and viola. It worked like a charm :D

I'm reporting the above for the next person who experiences a similar issue.
