Hazel is, well, snoozing. Fri Dec 02, 2011 9:53 am • by grovberg
I've been using Hazel to manage video encoding on some unsupervised machines. Every so often I get a report that files are not showing up in the destination as they should be. I go and take a look, and there are a bunch of files siting in the watched folder, and Hazel is just ignoring them. I click Preview Rule Matches... and it shows me a list of all the files in the folder. I click Run Rules Now and Hazel dutifully gets right to work and processes the files as expected.

I almost feel like the boss coming across a sleeping employee. Any idea why this might be happening? I'm on version 2.3.8 on Snow Leopard. Any reason to think this will be fixed by updating to 2.3.10 (it's 15 machines, all of which are in near constant use, so upgrading is a bit of a challenge)?

Turn on debug logging and email me the logs. Also, you could try upgrading just one of the machines to see if that changes things.

Lastly, you could try re-adding the folder to Hazel to see if that helps reset things.

Coincidentally, I found a window of time where none of the machines were being used, so I swooped in and quickly upgraded them all (thanks for make that so painless BTW). I haven't had a report of anything fishy since, so it's possible that cleared things up, but I'll be keeping an eye on it for the next couple weeks just to sure.

I wasn't able to find any options for changing the logging behavior. If the problem shows itself again, I'll email you what I have.

Thanks for responding.
