Sync Re-Name to destination Fri Jan 09, 2026 7:32 pm • by ramprecht
Hi,
my image data folder structure is as follows:

Media
|_Project1
|_raw
|_display

Media is my media master folder
Projects all the projects underneath
Each project does contain subfolders "raw" for the raw files and "display" for shrinked jpeg versions

I sync the "display" subfolder to another export_folder to be used by various applications, into following structure:
MEDIA_EXPORT
|_ Project1
|_ Project2

Difficulty now is:
- SYNC cannot be used for the copy-to-export folder, since I am syncing the "display" folder and the resulting folder name is the project name (= enclosing folder of "display")
- I am currently using a custom script to copy this accordingly over

Now my difficulty is:
- I can detect a re-name in the source, but how do I know the old name before the re-name. I would like to know, so I can manually sync the re-name over to the EXPORT folders.

I tried a few things already but no success. Any best-practice guidelines? Or, any ideas to let SYNC do all of this and achieve the desired output folder structure?

Thanks
Christian

Have you considered using an alias or symbolic link instead? That way no files need to be shuttled around. Note that this would only work if both are on the same drive.
