Thanks for the quick reply and for pointing me to the correct place in the forum this time. I tried the method you described, and when I choose Replace Folder, I see two options:
• Selected folder (any subfolders used by my rules stay the same)
• Selected folder and its subfolders (subfolders used by my rules are also replaced, keeping their relative positions)
The second option looks closer to what I want since it can update multiple rules at once. However, in my case, only the root folder has changed — I don’t want to move or alter the full file paths of the subfolders.
When I test the second option, it seems to replace the entire file location and apply the exact same target folder to every rule, rather than just swapping the root reference. That feels a bit too broad for my use case, since I only need the root updated while keeping each rule’s subfolder paths intact.
Could you confirm if there’s a way to achieve that?
Thanks again for clarifying!
Best,
DJ

In the future, please email or post questions like this. The forum message system has issues and is not well suited for this.
Sorry about that, but the online manual is out of sync. Check the manual in-app but in short, the function is now available under the main "Folder" menu.Quote davidelloyd
Unable to find “Relocate Folder…” in the Move action popup

Hello Noodlesoft team,
I read this manual page about relocating folders:
https://www.noodlesoft.com/manual/hazel ... ng-folders
When I edit a rule that uses Move (or Copy/Sync) and click the destination folder pop-up, I do not see a “Relocate Folder…” option.
Environment
Hazel version: 6.0.4
macOS version: 15.6
Mac hardware: Mac Pro 2019
Destination volume type: Dropbox
Context
I want to update every rule that points to the old destination.
Steps to Reproduce
Open Hazel, go to the Rules list.
Edit a rule that ends with Move to Folder: [old path].
In the action, click the folder popup next to the destination.
Expected: a Relocate Folder… option (per the manual page).
Actual: I only see items like Choose… and recent folders, no Relocate Folder….
What I Tried
Restarted the Hazel helper and Hazel app.
Toggled the rule off and on.
Used Folders pane gear menu > Relocate… to relink the watched folder. That worked for the watched folder, but did not update the destination references inside the rules.
Manually used Choose… to point to one rule at the new destination. That works, but it is not a bulk fix.
Checked System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access to ensure Hazel has access.
Tested with a brand-new test rule.
Questions
Under what conditions should Relocate Folder… appear in the Move/Copy/Sync action’s folder popup?
Is that option only available when Hazel marks the old destination as missing, or should it appear anytime?
Is there an official way to bulk update all rules that reference a moved destination folder?
Thanks for your help!
Best,
DJ
