BUG - Hazel 6 Finder extension -> Finder sidebar icon

Hey guys,

I've found an annoying bug in Hazel 6.
The "Revert Finder extension" leads to missing drive icons in the Finder sidebar.

I have several drive under favorites in the Finder sidebar. And since the update to Hazel 6 those drives have a blank document icon as drive icon.
If I kill the "HazelFinderSyncExtension" process the drive icons reappear.

Please add an option to turn off this feature and fix the bug. I really don't need this feature

best

I'm currently analyzing this problem and am talking to an Apple engineer on their forums. If you are interested in helping out, please email in to support.

Ok, great. But you really have to give us an option to turn off this feature.
It's not ok to integrate into Finder this way.

I've filed a bug with Apple but have not heard back. What version of macOS are you running?

15.1.1

But I don't want a fix by Apple.
I want that you give me a setting to disable the whole finder integration stuff!

I will be adding it, at least for Sequoia, as Apple omitted the user interface for enabling/disabling these extensions (another bug of theirs).

When can I expect a new update with this "turn off" setting?

Actually, 15.2 allows you to turn off Finder extensions finally. This was in previous OS versions but they omitted it for some reason in 15.0, even though the bug was reported to them.

In System Settings, go to General->Login Items & Extensions->File Providers. Hazel should show up in the list now where you can disable it.

Note that I will still be providing a patch where the functions provided by the Finder extension are also available in the menubar icon menu.

Are you saying it resets after turning it off in System Settings?

Thanks. I'll look into adding an option then.
