Is it possible to use Hazel6 to parse through a bank statement and rename the file with the statement date like this:

YYYY.MM 1234 (last 4 of account number) Statement

My caveat is that my account numbers change as do my banks from time to time. So I couldn't have it use the same account number in the file name or look for a specific file number. At least without setting up a specific rule for each account/bank, at least I think. Hoping ya'll can give me some guidance. I spend a ridiculous amount of time each month renaming bank statements to fit a set convention, so if I can figure out how to make this work it would save me so much time!

Can you post some specific examples (with account numbers redacted)?

Unfortunately all banks are different and even different account types within the same institution are different in their statement format. But essentially for the above statement information I'd like it to rename the file 2023.02 8456 Statement. But I'm not sure how to do that with different account numbers/different financial institutions. Does that make sense?

To add another piece to the puzzle, sometimes the dates aren't within the same month so the opening date would be the date I'd use. So if the statement date was Feb 1 2023- March 1 2023 then that statement is February's statement, not March's so I'd want it to be labeled 2023.02.

Also, I'm not sure how to embed the photo of the information because it keeps showing the image as broken so here's the url for it : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-UiegQ ... drive_link

It might be the case you have to use different rules to match the formats of different banks. You don't need to search for specific account numbers per se. For instance, if the account number is always preceded by the same text, you can set up a pattern to match that and a custom attribute to grab the stuff after. You'll need to look at your cases to exploit patterns that arise.

Okay I think I figured this out. But instead of renaming the .pdf file, it's renaming it and making it a Data file. The file opens fine but now other rules won't recognize it because it's no longer a .pdf. Do I need to have something in there about making it continue to be a .pdf?

Did you remove the "extension" token from the Rename pattern? If so, you need to put that back.
