Adding a tag from Exif data Wed Feb 01, 2023 5:24 am • by Pirateblackbeard
Hello,

i am trying to create a rule that is adding a tag to a file if it finds a specific "artist" in an image (Exifdata).

Does someone has an idea how this rule should look like?

Unfortunately my tags are getting removed when I move images to my NAS. So I try to fix this with a rule.

Thanks 8)

Select the file in Finder and do "Get Info". Do you see the artist info anywhere there? If so, then you can match on that attribute in Hazel. If you provide a specific example, I can give more guidance.

Unfortunately the pictures are on my NAS and connected through SMB. Finder can't read the EXIF data on SMB. But EXIF tool can read the data and I thought there is some command to use with an apple script with Hazel.

Hazel uses Spotlight which can grab most info from exif so it's a matter of whether Spotlight is able to index that drive.
