Unable to create new rules in 5.2 and have to force quit

Greeting,

I am using 5.2 on MacOS 12.6.

I have been trying to create a new rule in many folders in Hazel, but get the same results. It will not save the new rule and I have to Force Quit the app.

Steps
- Goto Existing Folder in Hazel.
- Click the Icon to add a new rule
- Type in the rule name. Tried using different names
- Set the trigger to many different triggers. Example Date Added is not in the last 7 days
- Set the Do the following to Set Tag to Orange.
- Click Save.

Results.
- In the Rules Column, "New Rule" continues to stay the same default Name on bottom of the list.

Next
- Click on a different Rule in the folder and get a popup "Are you sure you want to stop editing this rule?"
- I click the Popups "Save Rule" and the popup goes away and In the Rules Column, "New Rule" continues to stay the same default Name on bottom of the list.

- Click on a different Rule again and get the same popup and this time click on Discard Rule and popup goes away and In the Rules Column, "New Rule" continues to stay the same default Name on bottom of the list.

This loop continues. I am not able to save the new rule and I can't get the new rule to go away.
At this point I have to force quit.

I did uninstall and reinstall Hazel with same results.

I have opened the View Logs and cleared them. Force Quit Hazel and re-launch Hazel and open the logs. They are clean. I do the add new rule process, including forcing the popup by clicking on a different rule, but nothing populates in the log until the Helper launches to process all the existing rules.

Any suggestions to help resolve this loop?

I'm not seeing this here. Can you check the regular console logs? Do the following:

- Launch Console
- Enter Hazel into to search field and press return
- Click the Start streaming text
- Replicate the bug
- Email/post the log messages that result.

Mr. Noodle,

I did the following to capture the logs.

- Open Console
- Enter Hazel in the search bar on the top right and hit enter
- Started Streaming
- Launched Hazel
- Clicked Download Folder then Add new rule icon
- Named rule Test Rule
- Set Name is Test Name
- Set Add Tage to Delete Me tag
- Clicked Save but the rule did not save
- Clicked on another rule and used the dialog box to try and save, and Discard Changes but still on the new rule I was creating.

The Logs were blank after doing these steps.
After about 30 seconds later it did show the following.

Odd, there should have been messages right from launching the app. Can you record a video and email it in to support?

Working with Mr. Noodle, it was determined the issue was because of a sync to OneDrive. The OneDrive app likes to stop working and I have to restart it frequently. And corp policy has my MS account log out frequently.

Mr. Noodle recommended I sync with a different folder or service like Dropbox, iCloud, etc.

Here are the steps I used to fix my situation.
- Open Hazel
- On each folder I have created I;
- Right click the folder.
- Select Rule Sync Settings
- Select Set up new sync file..."
- Find a new folder location that is not on OneDrive as the sync location
- Click on Save
- Click on Done

After doing this for each Hazel Folder, I am able to create new rules.

Same issue experienced here. OneDrive preference sync was stable for me up until ~2 weeks ago. Switching to iCloud has resolved for now
