Help.
I've spent more time learning v5 after moving from v4 than I will probably ever save with this rule-set working.

I've combed the forums, read the section on sub-sections, etc.

[side beef -- I really hate that when I'm working on a rule and I want to peek at a rule above it, I have to discard all my work on to change rules. Is there a way to keep an unfinished rule?]

Anyway, common use case: sort images into sub-folder.

File structure
Phone --> Year --> Month --> {dump files here}
or
Phone
--> Year
----> Month
-------> jpg, dng, mpv, [folder: RAW]

Of the files dumped, I have .jpg, .mpv, .dng
I would like Hazel to take all the .dng and move them to the folder in the same directory called RAW.

Thank you for any pointers

If I understand your request...

If all of the following are met

Extension | is | dng

Do the following to the matched file or folder:

Move | to folder| folder name

@dmayo2:

Check out the detach feature (the button in the top right).

As for your original issue, is Hazel monitoring the Phone folder? If so, you'll need to have Hazel go into subfolders to get to the jpg etc. files. Check the manual as there's a whole chapter on how to create a rule to do this, IN ADDITION to the rule you have which would move the actual files.

Thanks for the detach.

Yes, Hazel is monitoring the Phone folder. I can't seem to get the Subfolder Rule to monitor two levels down. I suppose that I could monitor the Year folder, and every year just change it, but I'm this deep down the hole now...

I've tried sub-folder depth (various values) and still can't get IF Extension IS dng THEN Sort into subfolder.
