Hazel Not Separating Txt File / Reverting to Embedded Table

I have been having trouble getting Hazel to consistently read from a txt file.

I am using macOS Numbers to generate my list, organize, remove duplicates, concatenate etc. and then pasting the final , (comma) delimited column into a txt file in TextEdit.

Hazel tries to read the file in but does not separate the file properly based on the , (commas). If I play around with the separator value no matter what I type or select I get the message that the separator I have selected does not result in a valid table.

The only thing I can think of is a formatting issue when pasting into TextEdit. The in app help only says that the data needs to be read in from a text file.

Second, the table will sometimes reset itself to read from embedded even though I have spent the time setting up a custom table read from a file, saved and closed Hazel. It may work for a bit but if I edit the rule in a what not even related to that table it will reset to embedded.

Not sure if this is the case for you, but right now there's a bug where Hazel will not properly parse tables with Window/DOS line endings (carriage return + linefeed).

As for the table being reset, can you reproduce this? If so, can you post/email a video?

I have not been able to reproduce this. Every time I try to adjust the table to use a comma as a separator I get the warning and Hazel crashes.

5.0.2 was released this morning. Can you give that version a try?

I have not observed the behaviour of the table reverting to embedded.

I am still having trouble reading in text files with comma separated values in Hazel 5.0.2.

Can you post/email the table in question?

I have not had time to work on this until tonight and I have changed nothing since my last post but now the file seems to be reading in and separating the text file into the proper columns.

However, there is a new glitch that has started with this rule. Whenever I try to add a table "from text file", the data appears to come in correctly but I cannot close each context menu "Done button" to get back and save my work. Opening any new submenu causes each menu to freeze and I have to force quit Hazel to get the functionality back.

I figured I would just try to rebuild the rule from scratch and so far it appears to be working.

If that happens again, please do the following:

- Launch Console
- Enter Hazel in the search field and hit return
- Trigger the bug
- Send me the resulting log messages

Thanks.

I am confused now.

The exact same text file, referenced in the exact same location will separate into a table in one rule but not another. Table functionality has been hit and miss for me. I am running 5.0.3 and have had a few weird freezes this evening that have locked up my computer and caused me to have to force restart so I was not able to open console.

The lag and freezing may be coming from BigSur.
