Help with Subfolder Rule Thu Apr 29, 2010 12:53 pm • by mojoe2013
Hello,

Let me start with I am probably being dense here, but I can't figure out the subfolder action, even after reading the sticky and playing around with it. Here is what I would like to accomplish:

1. Folder of music gets added to "download folder".
2. Hazel searches the contents of folders within the "download folder" for folders containing music files every 1 hour (to help prevent Hazel from transferring partially downloaded files)
3. Hazel opens the folder that contains the music files with a specific application (which is actually a droplet created in Flow that will move the folder for me to another location and provide a growl notication upon completion).

Could someone be nice enough to post a screen grab of how this rule would look in Hazel? Thanks so much and again, sorry for not grasping this quicker :-)

Thanks!

It seems you want to operate on the file's parent folder and not the file itself. Check out this post on how to re-target a rule to act on the parent folder:

If you need help with integrating the above, let me know.
