mkv, file kind = movie? Thu Apr 08, 2010 5:23 am • by peedub
for rule matching, when selecting file kind = movie, mkv files do not fall under this category. is there a way to make this happen?

cheers in advance

This is a function of Spotlight, not Hazel. You need a Spotlight importer which categorize mkv files as movies. I don't know if such a thing exists but you can google around for it. In the meantime, I would either match against its exact type ("Matroska Video File") or match by file extension.

Actually, looking at it again, my answer was a bit incomplete. This type of information is also provided by the app that opens that file type. It is up to the app author to specify the correct UTIs (they should know what that means) so I'd suggest contacting them to fix it.
