Syncing Rules

If I sync my rules, how does a client device treat these. For example will it distinguish between my "server machine" Download folder and the client machine Download folder

In general, paths have to be identical on both. The exception is for folders underneath your home folder. Those are recorded as being relative to the home folder so as long as that holds true for all machines being synced, then it should worked.
